SCI Seminar: Where Science Meets Business at RACI Centenary Congress

10 April 2017

11 Apr 2017

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of its inception, the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) will hold its Centenary Conference alongside the 17th Asian Chemical Congress. This premium event will consist of a congress of independent conferences and bring together thousands of international delegates.

As part of this prestigious event, SCI will be running a three-day seminar on the practical aspects surrounding the interface between chemistry and commercialisation – taking science from the lab to market. Speakers from a broad range of sectors (industry, financiers, patenting, publishing, and government) will share their experience, including the importance of networking.

This seminar will appeal to scientists from industry and academia, who are looking to commercialise their ideas and concepts. It will contrast with other more academic or specialised conferences, and offer an excellent opportunity for networking between like-minded delegates of all levels and experience. Case studies will give concrete examples of how to succeed in taking lab discoveries to the market place.

Programme highlights will include global perspectives, policy, the role of venture capitalists in start-ups, the food industry, and intellectual property. Speakers include Professor David Wood, University of Melbourne; Bronwyn Capanna, Executive Director of Accord Australasia; Professor Nicolas Georges, Monash University; and Len Sharpe, Sharpe Performance.
