SCI journals' high impact

9 Aug 2012

Two of SCI's journals have done particularly well in the 2011 Journal Citation Report from Thomson Reuters, which reports on journal impact factors.

Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology has reached 2.168, and Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture 1.436. Both are the highest values ever for these titles.

Pest Management Science is flat at -3%, and two other journals, Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining and Polymer International, have seen their values dip. However this result may be revised when corrections are published at the end of the summer.

SCI's portfolio of six titles maintains a strong market position with all of them featuring in the top third of at least one subject category.

JCTB is now in the top 25% of journals in the Engineering and Chemical category, in the top third of Chemistry and Multidisciplinary, and in the top half of journals in Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology.

Three SCI journals continue to feature in the top ten of at least one of their categories:

  • Biofpr: ranked tenth in Energy and Fuels (total 81 journals)
  • Pest Management Science: ranked eighth in Entomology (total 85 journals)
  • JSFA: ranked tenth in Agriculture, Multidisciplinary (total 57 journals)
