Priority places for Standing up for Science media workshop

11 Aug 2014

SCI is delighted to sponsor the Voice of Young Scientist Workshop, organised by our collaborative partner Sense about Science.

Building on the success of previous media workshop, Sense about Science will be holding a third 'Standing up for Science media workshop' at the newly refurbished SCI offices on Friday 3 October. This full day event is aimed at early career researchers in all sciences, engineering and medicine (PhD students, post-docs or equivalent in first job).

During the workshop you will combine discussion about science-related controversies in media with practical guidance and tips on how to deal with the media. You will also be able to discuss concerns about speaking to the public and confront misconceptions about how the media works. You can access more details for the day using the link below.

These workshops are very popular and places are limited. We are pleased to let you know that SCI members are entitled to one of five priority places. To apply, please email a CV and short cover letter explaining your reasons for applying to Victoria Murphy at vmurphy@senseaboutscience.org, mentioning that you are an SCI member in the letter. Please note the application deadline is 19 September.
