If you missed out on the London Day of Science and Careers (which took place at SCI on 27 April) then you will be pleased to know that you won’t have to wait until next year to attend.
We are delighted to announce that the Day of Science and Careers will be coming to Scotland for the first time this year and will be taking place on 1 June at the University of Aberdeen.
Like its London counterpart, the meeting is designed for early career people with a particular focus on providing information about the wide range of careers covered in the chemical, chemical-using and other science-based industries.
The programme is varied and we will hear about what it is like to work and start out in the bioscience, chemical, oil and pharmaceutical industries as well as in academia. Speaker backgrounds will range from SMEs to large multinational organisations such as GlaxoSmithKline and Clariant. Guidance will be given on how to complete industrial, academic and academic-related job applications. Ronnie Palin from Skills Development Scotland will also give advice on developing skills for industry.
There will be several opportunities for questions and discussions and following the formal part of the event delegates will have a chance to network with speakers over the wine and nibbles reception which concludes the day.
Those who have previously attended the London Day of Science and Careers events have reported them to be excellent, outstanding, informative and highly enjoyable, and we are sure that this meeting will prove just as successful.
The event is FREE, open to all (you do not have to be an SCI member to attend), and includes lunch, refreshments and wine and nibbles.
