SCI's Energy Group in collaboration with the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC) would like to invite you to the second in a series of seminars to discuss the role Hydrogen (H2), Electrification and Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) will play in decarbonising the chemical / process industries in the Teesside Cluster. The successful first seminar in the series was Decarbonising the Teesside Cluster.
The keynote speaker will be Prof Mercedes Maroto-Valer OBE of the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC). Within the seminar, speakers will be looking at plans for H2 production, CO2 collection for transmission to secure sub-sea storage, and the role of electrification including integration challenges. Speakers will also address decarbonisation by Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Data Centre power provision.
We would like to identify the key topics of interest, opportunity and concern within the Teesside cluster, with a view to holding deeper dives into key topics during subsequent discussions. We are keen to continue these discussions going forward, and to facilitate the development of the key requirements including policy needs and challenges.
Registration is encouraged from those who work in the Tees Valley Industrial Cluster or those who work in other industrial clusters and are keen to decarbonise their operations as well as researchers in the field of decarbonisation and other related topics.
Please note that this event is targeted at delegates who are active in relevant industry sectors and overall places will be limited. Thus., even though this is a free event, it is important to register to secure your place. SCI reserves the right to request additional information about a delegate’s experience prior to confirming their place.
A poster session will showcase current research into decarbonisation technologies, with a particular focus on work from Teesside and the wider North East. Up to six posters will be selected, with prizes of £100 (1st prize) and £50 (2nd prize) awarded by the SCI Energy Group.
Researchers interested in participating are invited to submit a poster in A0 format as a PDF file. Posters should be submitted by email to committeesupport@soci.org.
SCI accessibility grants are available to support SCI members with disabilities, long term health conditions, those who require a carer, and members who are nursing parents to attend SCI events. Download an application form to apply for a grant.
