Catalysis for a Sustainable Future

Organised by:

SCI's Materials Early Career Committee

SCI, London, UK

Registration Closed

This event is no longer available for registration.

Synopsis

The ECR Materials annual conference returns again this year, continuing our committee theme of sustainable materials with a focus this year on catalysis to drive a sustainable tomorrow. Catalysis plays a huge part in directing the world towards sustainable progress, and contributes enormously to the UK economy. As such, research into improving catalytic processes, developing new catalytic materials and understanding homo- and heterogeneous reactions remains an integral part of both the industrial and academic landscape of UK chemistry.

Join us to take part in discussions, talks and networking opportunities between researchers and business in and associated with sustainable catalysis. There will be a particular focus on providing early career researchers with a platform on which to showcase their research, and we will be joined by prominent and well-established scientists to provide an overview of the scientific field at large, as well as hearing from the UK catalysis hub.

We will be joined by Keynote speakers Simon Kondrat (University of Loughborough), Melis Duyar (University of Surrey) and Luxfor catalysis division.

The Beilby Medal and Prize will also be awarded at this event.
Attendees

This event is aimed at researchers in materials chemistry and specifically in the fields and sub-fields of catalysis in its various forms.

It will look to bring researchers from all career stages together, but maintaining an opportunity for ECRs to showcase work and develop contacts and network. It is also aimed at industry partners looking for new avenues of research into catalytic applications.

Call for Abstracts

Contributions are invited from early stage researchers and PhD students working in the materials science field focused on sustainable catalysis to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation. The poster session will be held in the garden room at Belgrave Square during lunch and after the talks. An abstract of maximum 250 words indicating title, authors, institution and preference for presentation option (Oral presentation or virtual poster) should be sent to conferences@soci.org by 19 June with the subject line “SCI Catalysis for Sustainable Future - abstract submission”. Presentation slots are inevitably limited and will be allocated to achieve a balanced programme – researchers will be invited to contribute a poster if submission is not chosen for oral presentation. Prizes will be awarded for the best presentation and poster. Abstract templates can be found  here

We are looking for abstracts in the following areas:

    • Catalytic materials for products from sustainable feedstocks
    • Catalysts for the production of sustainable materials
    • Catalytic materials for improved sustainable processes
