Bushra Mughal was awarded a Rideal Travel Bursary to attend the EuropaCat 2025 16th European Congress on catalysis held in Norway in September 2025. Here she tells us about her highlights from the conference.
"My motivation to participate in the EUROPACAT 2025 conference was driven by the opportunity to showcase my research to the wider scientific community. I am pleased to share that my submitted abstract was selected for a poster presentation. I successfully presented my poster (Poster No. 632) on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, and I am happy to report that my research attracted considerable attention, particularly from early-career researchers in the field of catalysis, who showed great interest in my work. The experience boosted my confidence in presenting my research and further honed my communication and networking skills.
"One of the most valuable aspects of attending this conference was the series of talks on advanced characterization techniques in spectroscopy and microscopy. These sessions were directly relevant to my Ph.D. research and will undoubtedly contribute to future collaborative publications. They significantly broadened my understanding of operando and in-situ characterizations, which was exactly what I was seeking.
"Moreover, the conference provided an excellent platform to network not only with fellow researchers from around the world and exchanging research skills and ideas but also with industry representatives. These interactions are expected to benefit my long-term career prospects and foster international research collaborations aimed at advancing sustainability and contributing to societal benefit. I truly believe that this opportunity has not only helped to boost my confidence and polished the transferable skills but also deepened my knowledge and understanding of more advanced research.
"I am extremely delighted and sincerely grateful to the Rideal Travel Bursary from SCI-RSC Rideal Trust for making this opportunity possible through financial support. I highly appreciate support and efforts, which contribute so positively to advancing research."
