The Horticulture Group is calling for applications for the 2014 David Miller award. Two travel bursaries of £250 each are available.
David Miller was a driving force in the creation of SCI's Horticulture Group and helped steer it through its formative years. He was particularly interested in helping and encouraging younger people to develop their careers in the industry and the award has been especially designed to recognise this.
The award aims to give two young horticulturists or plant scientists the opportunity of overseas travel in connection with their horticultural careers. Applicants should be in the second or final year of a higher education qualification (BSc, HND, Kew Diploma etc) or studying for an MSc or PhD. They should be registered on courses in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
Recipients will each receive a £250 cash prize and Eden Friends membership for three years. The award is intended to supplement, rather than wholly finance, a journey. Applicants should submit a 500 word statement setting out the purpose which the award will be put towards.
Deadline for Submissions: 14 April 2014
