Madeleine Adam is a 2014 Canada Student Merit Award winner. She achieved this award for obtaining the highest standing of her class in the fourth and final year of her degree. Here is a brief biography of the winner.
Madeleine completed her Bachelor of Science Honour’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in 2014. She spent her time during her undergraduate degree studying medicinal chemistry as well as being actively involved in organic synthesis research toward natural product targets as a member of Dr David MaGee’s research group.
Outside of her studies and research interests, Madeleine contributed to the teaching excellence at UNB as a laboratory demonstrator, and she enjoyed being part of the UNB Faculty of Science community as a Peer Mentor for the Science Student Leadership Program and as an executive member of the Undergraduate Chemistry Society. Madeleine is honoured to be the UNB Chemistry recipient of the 2014 SCI Canada Student Merit Award.
Over the years of her undergraduate degree, Madeleine was also the recipient of Undergraduate Student Research Awards from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Society for Chemistry Silver Medal, the Norman S. Fraser Prize in Science at UNB, and the Hypercube Scholar Award at UNB, among other achievements related to academic and community involvement.
Madeleine continues to develop her chemical and health-related interests as she pursues NSERC-funded graduate studies at the University of Ottawa.
