Are you a young researcher in colloid, surface and interface science?
Would you like the opportunity to share professional experiences, network and discuss career development opportunities?
On Monday 10 April 2017, PhD students, post docs and industrialists will be coming together at the University of Sheffield to showcase their new findings and techniques at the Colloid Young Researchers’ Meeting 2017.
There will be talks and posters from delegates, flash presentations, keynotes and a panel session. Keynote speakers and panels will also be young industrialists and academics who recently received their permanent positions or started their own research groups within the last 5 years. The panel session will be question & answer format in order to share their experience on how to get into the career that we dream of. What would you need to know on your first day as a PhD student? What helped them getting into a position they always wanted?
Contributions are expected from a wide range of disciplines in both academia and industry related to colloid, surface and interfaces. Confirmed speakers/panelists include scientists from the University of Warwick, BP, ISIS and EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
This is an opportunity to:
- Experience presenting to a multi-disciplinary audience
- Raise your profile, build networks, find ideas and inspiration
- Hone your career skills through discussion with experienced scientists and industrialists
Furthermore, there is still time to make a contribution to this meeting. Abstracts for oral papers (20 minutes), flash poster presentations (5 slides, 5 minutes) and poster presentations (A0: 1189 mm x 841 mm, portrait) are being accepted until Friday 10 March 2017. Abstracts should be one A4 page or 300 words indicating title, authors and preference for presentation option (Oral, Flash or Poster). For more information, contact conferences@soci.org.
