Established 2016

The Scotland Regional Group offers up to ten SCI student memberships to PhD and Masters degree students working in scientific research in Scottish Universities, to help with networking and professional development opportunities.

Winners will be given the opportunity to build their networks with academics and industrialists, and develop future skills to help with their onward career. The top three winning articles will also be published on the SCI website and in SCI's C&I Magazine.

Applications

Applicants are requested to submit a 600-word article describing their research project and its relevance to the SCI strapline 'where science meets business'. Applications should be written in a format suitable for publication in a scientific news magazine read by scientifically literate members of the general public (such as New Scientist).

Marks are awarded on the following criteria: 1) a well written and informed essay, 2) the essay in the style of ‘New Scientist’, 3) a clear explanation of where your science meets business, and 4) articles which keep to the 600-word count.

Students may find it helpful to speak to their supervisor regarding the requested criteria.
