SCI welcomes yesterday’s announcement that the UK and EU have agreed a deal on Britain's re-entry into the Horizon scientific research programme. With the programme having put aside £85bn of funding for 2021-2027, this represents a lucrative opportunity to fund vital scientific research and build its credibility in the world of science and industry.

Our Chief Executive, Sharon Todd, said:

‘We are delighted to hear that the UK will be rejoining the Horizon collaboration programme.

The EU is focused on science, innovation and driving towards a green future. It recognises and values the UK science base and the UK has long had strong, established links with our neighbours in continental Europe. Both parties will benefit from this deal.

The UK should build on today's announcement by continuing to seek out new relationships and opportunities for collaboration. At SCI, we firmly believe that innovation is all about collaboration’.
