Byron H Farnum is the recipient of the 2011 Perkin Scholarship. Byron received his undergraduate degree in chemistry in 2008 from the University of South Carolina and is currently a fourth-year graduate student at Johns Hopkins University.
Under the guidance of Professor Gerald J Meyer, his research is centered on fundamental redox reactions relevant to dye-sensitised solar cells and solar energy conversion. His scientific interests include photochemistry, electrochemistry, and catalysis. Byron is also the recipient of the Johns Hopkins University Chemistry Alumni Graduate Fellowship.
