Nominate for the Beilby Medal and Prize and Barrer Award

Beilby Medal

16 Dec 2013

The Materials Chemistry Group is calling for nominations for both the Beilby Medal and Prize and the Barrer Award. The deadlines are 31 Dec 2013 and 15 Jan 2014 respectively.

Beilby Medal and Prize
The Beilby Medal and Prize is presented jointly by SCI's Materials Chemistry Group, the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and it is given annually to a scientist or engineer to recognise substantial work of exceptional practical significance in chemical engineering, applied materials science, energy efficiency, or a related field. Preference is given to candidates in the early stage of their career.

The selection process of the 2014 Beilby Medal and prize winner is being administered by SCI and we would like to invite nominations, including self nominations, with the support of referees. Applications should be made online by 31 December 2013. Enquiries should be addressed to awards@soci.org.

Barrer Award
The Barrer Award recognises meritorious recent pure or applied work in the field of porous inorganic materials. It was established in 1983 and is jointly administered by SCI, the RSC, and the British Zeolite Association.

The prize is given triennially, recipients must be 37 years of age or below at the closing date and it is open for work done in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. The selection process of the 2014 Barrer award is being administered by the RSC and the nominations for 2014 will close on 15 January 2014.
