Yorkshire & the Humber Group Awards applications now open

How to nominate

The SCI’s Yorkshire & the Humber Group Committee are calling for nominations for their 3 Y&H Group Awards, which will be presented at the Yorkshire and the Humber Annual Awards Ceremony, later this year.

The following awards are now open for nominations:

Chemistry for Industry Award
This award is presented to an individual for the successful application of chemistry to enable or support sustainable industrial development in the region. The definition of industry includes not only traditional chemical companies, but also industries such as coatings, crop protection, environmental services, food, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and synthetic fibres.
Recipients would likely be key managers from industry in the region, or academics in the region with a clear industry connection, who have made a major contribution to development and implementation of strategies based on chemistry, which have had a significant beneficial impact on the sustainable development of a company or industry sector.

R&D for Society Award
This award is presented to an individual or a team, for R&D carried out in the last ten years, which provides a potentially major benefit to society in the region. The technology should be at an early stage, and ready for commercialisation or implementation, for example as the basis for a spin-out company.
Recipients are expected to be from academic or research institutions, or to be researchers or technology managers from industry. There should be a strong connection with the region, however some of the work could be completed outside the region.

Science for Society Award
This award is presented to an individual for sustained, outstanding and influential contributions to the advancement of science education which provide a major benefit to society in Yorkshire & the Humber and beyond.

Nominations should be made by members of the Yorkshire & the Humber Group by the closing date 9 April 2020.
Those intending to propose a candidate are encouraged to contact awards@soci.org.
