Canada Student Merit Award Recipient, Caroline Ozoude

Caroline Ozoude is a 2025 Canada Student Merit Award winner. She achieved this award for obtaining the highest standing of her class in the fourth and final year of her degree. Here is a brief biography of the winner.

Caroline Ozoude, Canada Student Merit Award Winner 2025Caroline Ozoude is a June 2025 graduate of the Chemical Engineering programme at the University of Calgary, where she distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to sustainable innovation.

During her undergraduate studies, Caroline co-led a capstone project focused on the design of a natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery plant. The project aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from refinery off-gas while remaining economically viable. She applied Symmetry process simulation software to model the plant’s performance and served as the project’s Safety Coordinator, identifying operational risks and proposing mitigation strategies.

Caroline's industry experience includes an internship at TC Energy as an Automation Intern, working with SAP, and supporting field technicians with technical troubleshooting and documentation. She has also played leadership roles as VP Finance for both the National Society of Black Engineers and STEM Fellowship, where she supported outreach, mentorship, and advocacy for equity in STEM.

She is currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and is passionate about applying engineering as a tool for positive impact, particularly in areas of sustainability and innovation. Caroline is honoured to receive this award and looks forward to more opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the chemical industry.
