The following environment related Standards have been issued for public comment:
As well as providing the analytical procedure it describes how samples should be taken in the field. The present version of the standard is referred to in this context in BS 10175.The ISO draft is also be considered within CEN as a European Standard (EN). If approved as an EN it will automatically become a BS.

BS 5930 Code of Practice for Ground Investigation
The draft states that investigations of potentially contaminated sites should be in accordance with BS 10175 and for ground gas should be in accordance with BS 8576. References to these standards have been introduced where appropriate in the text. Some brief comments/advice regarding potentially contaminated sites and gassing sites are also introduced where deemed necessary but always with a reference to BS 10175, BS 8576 or other relevant 'soil quality' standards.
Annex H provides information and guidance on 'integrated investigations', e.g. combined geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations.
