UK businesses are invited to apply for a new Smart Grant to receive an investment of up to £20m from Innovate UK. Investment will be awarded to the ‘best game-changing or disruptive ideas with a view to commercialisation.’
Proposals will demonstrate ambitious or disruptive R&D innovations that are significantly ahead of others, set for rapid commercialisation and have a deliverable business plan.
The Innovate UK Smart Grants are open for applications from 18 February to 24 April 2019, with funding considered for collaborative projects costing between £25,000 and £2m over a duration of 19 to 36 months.
Projects can focus on:
- feasibility studies, which may include market research
- industrial research
- experimental development, if appropriate for the challenge identified and proposed solution
UK-based businesses of any size are eligible to apply for funding. However, projects must include a SME or be submitted by an SME. Applicants must carry out project work in the UK.
