Introducing Liverpool and North West prize winner, Matthew Diable

21 November 2018

Matthew won the Best second year student on Chemistry degree course prize.

Matthew chose to study Chemistry at university because he thoroughly enjoyed the subject at both GCSE and A level. Using the knowledge gained in the classroom to understand reactions that happened in front of his eyes really fascinated him, and he was keen to continue this at a higher level.

Chemistry at university has not disappointed him. A great balance of both theory and practical work has allowed him to gain a vast amount of chemical knowledge and there have been many opportunities to apply this in the lab.

Matthew is currently in the process of completing a 12-months research placement at Lubrizol, which involves producing polymeric dispersants that can be used in colour filter for LCDs.

His future aspiration is to pursue a career in chemical research, as he feels this would give him a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the world.
