On behalf of all SCI members, I would like to offer my congratulations and say with great pleasure that SCI member Prof Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRS was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen 's New Year Honours 2015 for services to Chemical Sciences. SCI most warmly congratulates Prof Sir Martyn Poliakoff on this well-deserved Honour.

Sir Martyn, who is a research professor in Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, joined SCI in 1996. He is a member of the Fine Chemicals and Separation Science and Technology technical interest groups and also the East Midlands regional interest group. He has been involved in SCI conferences, speaking at the 2nd SCI/RSC 'Symposium on Continuous Processing and Flow Chemistry' in 2013 and before that at 'What a Chemist needs to know about Technology Transfer' in 2009. He is also on the Editorial Board for Chemistry & Industry magazine.

I know that we all look forward to continuing to work with him as a valued member of the society.

A full interview with Sir Martyn covering his contributions to the chemical sciences will be featured in an upcoming issue of C&I magazine.
