As this is my first column for 2012, I wish members a Happy New Year. We look forward to putting our 2012-14 strategy into place, with the support of our members and partners. For more information on the SCI's priority objectives, see the About Us page below.
At our 18 January meeting, Trustees reviewed the SCI College of Scholars in order to thoroughly understand this excellent initiative and to consider ways we might expand the programme to encourage more students and those at early career stage to benefit from the networking, mentoring and career development opportunities provided by the SCI.
The Early Career Support Sub-Committee will consider Trustees' feedback and will work with MAC and MDAC to develop a strategy for the future development of the college and early career services. Trustees are considering recommendations from the Members' Forum in the light of our strategy to see which can be progressed and I will update you in future issue.
Following a recommendation at a previous forum, that the SCI should allow members to use post-nominal letters to indicate membership of the SCI, at the recent forum it was agreed that members who wish to do so, may use the letters SCImem. This does not denote any degree, qualification or professional status. An e-alert will be sent to you soon on this subject.
