Change in Governance: MDAC and MAC
Following a joint proposal from the Chairs of the Membership Affairs Committee (MAC) and the Marketing and Development Advisory Committee (MDAC), the Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to the creation of a single standing committee covering membership and marketing matters. This integration is aimed at providing a better service to members, improving marketing and development support for SCI activities and advice to BoT by combining the skills and experience of the respective members into a unified standing committee.
To comply with the By-Laws and Rules, the mechanism to achieve this merger is that MDAC will be stood down with effect immediately before the 2013 SCI AGM. BoT has ruled that all current elected Members of MDAC whose term expires after the next AGM of SCI will become 'Board co-opted' Members of MAC until their elected term on MDAC would have expired. 'Board co-opted' Members are additional to the elected and co-opted Members of MAC so this does not affect the MAC vacancies for the 2013 elections.
This change in governance has the full support of the Chairs of MDAC and MAC and Trustees hope that as many current MDAC members as possible will take up the opportunity to be co-opted onto the expanded MAC.
