Sir Martyn Poliakoff
Sir Martyn Poliakoff became famous for his popular series of YouTube videos, the Periodic Table of Videos, in which he made chemistry simple, interesting, and accessible to more than 800,000 subscribers.
In this Public Evening Lecture on Wednesday 25 April 2018, he turned his attention to photochemistry, the study of light’s effect on chemical reactions. Developments in this exciting field could lead to significant benefits for society, including smart windows that adapt according to changing light and breakthrough medical technologies that enable minimally invasive surgery.
At SCI’s Public Evening Lecture, Sir Martyn Poliakoff updated the audience on his research group’s progress in the field of photochemistry, working in partnership with chemists and engineers at Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton Universities.
