A month of celebrations culminates in visit from The Princess Royal and the unveiling of a sculpture.
This week Scott Bader, an SCI Corporate Partner, reached a major milestone celebrating its Centenary on 28 April 2021. In addition, the date marked 70 years of Scott Bader Commonwealth.
The company has held a number of celebrations across the month of April, culminating with a visit from The Princess Royal, who toured the company’s laboratory facilities and manufacturing plant. The Princess Royal also visited the Commonwealth Centre, used by the business and local community, where she found out more about the Scott Bader Commonwealth and the charity fundraising and volunteering activities that colleagues around the world participate in.
The occasion was also used to bury a time capsule containing employee aspirations for Scott Bader, aligning with the company’s 2036 vision for a sustainable future. The capsule will be reopened in 2036. A plaque commemorating the Centenary was also unveiled. Commenting on the visit by The Princess Royal, Scott Bader CEO Kevin Matthews said: ‘We are privileged and honoured to have welcomed Her Royal Highness to Scott Bader…As we continue our Centenary celebrations, we can all look back on today’s visit with pride and gratitude.’
In addition, Scott Bader commissioned a sculpture which was unveiled by Godric Bader, Life President of the Scott Bader Commonwealth, his wife Anne, and his daughter Hansi Manning who is a Scott Bader Guardian Trustee. It was noted that the design of the sculpture aims to ‘embrace and reflect the ethos of the company.’
Commenting on Scott Bader’s milestone, SCI’s CEO Sharon Todd said: ‘Congratulations to Scott Bader on its 100th Anniversary. The organisation was established in 1921 to promote scientific innovations and make them available to society. Still holding to this core value today, Scott Bader continues to develop sustainable scientific innovations that add value to our everyday lives. SCI is very proud to be associated with such a forward-thinking organisation, and looks forward to continued collaboration.'
