The Chemical Innovation Exchange Conference (CIEX) takes place 5–6 October in Frankfurt, Germany.

SCI (Society of Chemical Industry) CEO Sharon Todd has been confirmed as the chair for Day One of CIEX 2022. She will steer debate as CIEX opens on 5 October in Frankfurt. This annual event showcases the latest innovation trends impacting the fast-moving consumer goods and chemical industry.

CIEX delegates will include heads of innovation, investors, business leaders and chief technology officers. International participants will be able to discuss industry trends and challenges as well as form partnerships for future collaboration.

Sharon Todd said:

‘These are unprecedented times for the chemical using industries. Companies showed extreme robustness as we faced the COVID 19 Pandemic, yet we did not anticipate the extreme geo-political challenges this year has brought. New challenges call for new models of working and international collaboration is urgently needed to navigate our way through this.’

She added ‘I am glad this will be more of an in-person event this year since forging relationships is key if we are to prove resilient. SCI returns to CIEX each year as it offers high calibre presentations, panel discussions, roundtables and business development opportunities. SCI’s goal is to accelerate scientific innovation from the laboratory to industry for societal benefit, and CIEX offers some of the C-suite decision makers who can make this happen.’

Speakers at CIEX this year include Maurits van Tol, Chief Technology Officer, Johnson Matthey and Richard Haldiman, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, Clariant. Topics for discussion will range from geo-political disruption to innovation investment and priorities in uncertain times, and ESG (environmental, social and governance) pressures on the sector.
