Make valuable contacts at your next Group AGM

8 May 2014

Do you want to get more involved with your SCI Technical or Regional Group, find out what their future plans are or have direct contact with the decision makers? If yes, then attending the Group's AGM or open committee meeting would be an ideal place to start.

At a Group AGM you can:

  • Hear about the Group's past, present and future plans; what they have done well and what they wish to improve
  • Suggest new collaborations, ideas for events or the way the Group should run itself
  • Network with your fellow members and increase your contacts
  • Find out first hand who the Group's new Chair/officers will be and talk to them face-to-face
  • Put yourself forward for election to the committee or any vacant officer positions
  • Vote for candidates wishing to join the committee or elect new officers

Many of our Groups are holding their AGMs in the upcoming weeks, so why not join them? AGMs often run alongside a lecture or a visit, so by attending you will also get the chance to learn something new and engage in a new experience. Remember, if you are unable to attend but want to communicate your ideas, or want to find out more you can email the Chair or Secretary directly via the SCI Members' Directory, or email communications@soci.org and we will put you in touch.
