There is an urgent need for multi-ply polypropylene (AKA meltblown fabric). SCI seeks creative immediate solutions to help contribute to coronavirus effort.
Multi-ply polypropylene is a critical component of the personal protective equipment (PPE) that protects healthcare professionals from COVID-19. Lack of such protection for medical workers can make it much more likely for them to get infected and also put other patients seen by such medical workers at risk.
As the coronavirus pandemic spreads around the world, protective medical supplies are in short supply as well as multi-ply polypropylene.
SCI is sharing a request from Innovate UK and the Cabinet Office for:
- Supply of multi-ply polypropylene (AKA meltblown fabric)
- Suggested alternatives with similar properties which could be used to manufacture gowns
We have developed a survey covering both of these points. This will allow us to provide structured feedback to the UK government, who are actively working to manage the situation.
Please respond as soon as possible. The survey will stay open for a minimum period of 7 days (Tuesday 14 April).
